Review of "The U. S. Presidents Sticker Book," by Karen Stillman

Review of
The U. S. Presidents Sticker Book, by Karen Stillman ISBN 0816749809

Three out of five stars
While the presence of stickers for all the presidents from Washington to Clinton will make this a fun way for children to learn about the U. S. Presidents, an omission weakens the power to teach. There are short biographical pieces about most, but not all of the presidents. Those that are considered lesser lights have no biography, so there is not mention of people such as Millard Fillmore, Franklin Pierce, James Buchanan, Andrew Johnson and Gerald Ford.
I consider these omissions a fatal flaw, if you include a sticker, then there should be a short section of text describing the context of all presidencies. Two of the omitted presidents were felled by assassin’s bullets and another two succumbed to disease while in office. These were significant events that should be noted.
