Review of
Stan
Lee Presents the Marvel Superheroes Featuring the Hulk, the Avengers, the X-Men
and Daredevil, edited by Len Wein and Marv Wolfman ISBN

Four out of five stars
Given the
nature of the comics with their explicit visuals, with quality drawing and
coloring, creating a story about the characters that is expressed only in text
is a complicated and difficult task. In this case, the editors and writers do
not completely succeed. There are four stories featuring separate heroes or
superhero groups. They are the Avengers, Daredevil, the X-Men and the
Incredible Hulk.
Restricted to
textual descriptions of the action and the dialog, the stories do not have the
impact of those expressed in comic or graphic novel form. The stories are good,
but they do not cause you to fixate over what is going to happen next. Most of
the textual descriptions of the action is nowhere close to the power of the
visuals and the textual sound effects of comics. Although I must confess that I
had a powerful urge to search for the comic form of the stories.
