Review of Instaread Summary of "Never Split the Difference: Negotiating As If Your Life Depended On It" by Chris Voss and Tahl Raz

Review of

Instaread Summary of Never Split the Difference: Negotiating As If Your Life Depended On It by Chris Voss and Tahl Raz

Five out of five stars

While this summary necessarily abbreviates the main points of the book, enough of the principles of high level negotiations come through to convince the reader that it is a valuable one to read. Chris Voss served time as the lead international kidnapping negotiator for the FBI, so he has experience in some of the most challenging and consequential negotiations.
The main point of the book is that business negotiations incorporate some of the same emotional entanglements as crisis management negotiations, so the person that wants to be successful should study the techniques that hostage negotiators use. This is a point that cannot be argued, making the premise and content of the book critical reading for the business negotiator.
This is a summary that effectively describes the contents of the book as well as convincing you of the utility of reading it.
