Review of
Images
of the Beatles, by Tim Hill ISBN 1405480483
Five out of five stars
This collection
of photos of the Beatles spans the time from when they were just another boy band
through their rocket flight to stardom to the breakup and beyond. Their ability
to create music and take it new directions was astonishing in their early
years. They toured live, went into the studio and recorded full albums in a
matter of days and then went back on tour.
One major point
of emphasis is the incredible songwriting capability of John Lennon and Paul
McCartney, particularly McCartney. One time he composed a song so quickly that
he went around playing it and asking others if they had ever heard it before.
He thought that he was somehow plagiarizing another song.
Fans of the
Beatles will love this volume, those with a passing or historical interest in
the group only a little bit less so.
