Review of "National Geographic Kids: Crocodile Encounters!," by Brady Barr and Kathleen Weidner Zoehfeld

Review of
National Geographic Kids: Crocodile Encounters!, by Brady Barr and Kathleen Weidner Zoehfeld
ISBN 978-1426310287

Five out of five stars
This is an excellent introduction to the different species of crocodiles as well as the methods scientists use to study them. The author has studied many different types of crocodiles, even putting on a crocodile suit and entering an area where there were many large crocodiles. There are explanations of the life style of crocodiles, but most of the text is devoted to the author’s experiences with them.
Barr has even created a “croc school,” where he has taught people in other countries how to capture and move large crocodiles that have become a menace to humans. Since the only alternative to dealing with these endangered species is to kill them, capturing them is done whenever possible.
Dealing with animals powerful enough to easily kill you is an exciting and dangerous profession. The thrill and challenge of working with crocodiles is captured in the text and images of this book. Children will love it.
