This book
combines the adorable nature of young animals with the reality of their
environments in the rain forest. Fourteen creatures living in this environment
are described, the structure is a full-page image on the left and explanatory
text with a smaller image on the right. A caption containing a series of
bulleted facts appears in the lower right corner of the rightmost page.
These facts
include the manner of birth, birth and adult size, number of littermates, their
favorite food, extent of parental care, main enemies and where they live. The
level of the material is that of the late elementary school student, although
adults will also find it informative. This is a sound addition to school and
personal libraries for children.
