Review of Instaread Summary of "How to Be Here A Guide to Creating a Life Worth Living," by Rob Bell

Review of

Instaread Summary of How to Be Here A Guide to Creating a Life Worth Living, by Rob Bell

Two out of five stars

All self-help books have a similar quality, some far more than others. This is one that is far more than others. There is not a single new or original idea expressed in this summary and the impression is that this reflection is accurate.
A reading of each of the eleven key takeaways takes you to a mental state where you could take this book away, replace it with another self-help book and proceed with no loss of continuity. For example, the first two are:
1. You create your life. Figuring out how to spend your precious time and energy is essential for consciously shaping your existence.
2. Following your dreams takes courage and a sense of self-worth.
This is the very definition of boilerplate content in a self-help book and the others are no great improvement. Unless you are really fond of reading self-help books, this summary will likely convince you to avoid the book.
