Review of Instaread Summary of "Commonwealth A Novel" by Ann Patchett

Review of

Instaread Summary of Commonwealth A Novel by Ann Patchett

Five out of five stars
As you read the summary section, it is easy to get the feeling that the information is being delivered by a heavily caffeinated fast talker. There are many main characters, the action bounces across decades (50 years) of time and the interactions within and between the two families are complex. This is demonstrated by the list of main characters, which has fifteen entries and it seems clear that they all should be in the list.
Even though this summary is over twenty pages long, once it was completed I did not believe that I was exposed to any true spoilers due to the complexity. The author of the summary makes two very significant points in the “Author’s style” segment.
Commonwealth’s plot unfolds gradually and nonlinearly.”
“This novel’s slow focusing process registers the way life’s events often only begin to make sense long after they’re past.”
Given the complexity of the plot and the slow pace of delivery, the end result of reading this summary was that I have no interest in reading the book.
