Review of Instaread Summary of "TED Talks The Official TED Guide to Public Speaking" by Chris Anderson

Review of

Instaread Summary of TED Talks The Official TED Guide to Public Speaking by Chris Anderson

Two out of five stars

From the title, it is clear that TED is an acronym, yet the origin is never mentioned in the book. It was necessary for me to do a Google search to learn that it refers to “Technology, Entertainment, Design.” Furthermore, there are no specifics regarding the tactics that make up TED. All that appears is a sequence of statements about how valuable a skill the ability to speak publicly is and how applying the TED principles will help even the most glossophobic person succeed.
I do not know whether the failure to include some explanation of TED is the primary responsibility of the author of the book or the author of the summary. Whatever the origin, any explanation of a book that describes the value of a technique without the most basic explanations of what that technique is must be rated a failure. Even two solid paragraphs of explanation may have been adequate.

This book was made available for free for review purposes.
