At approximately six inches in diameter and with a
ridge that extends out approximately one-quarter of an inch on the equator,
this spherical three-dimensional puzzle is easy to hold on to and manipulate. This
is critical, for it requires a set of steady hands to move the ball through all
phases of the maze.
It is
constructed from a set of tracks where the goal is to cause the ball to
transverse from the start to the end point. Getting it into one of the three
start positions is fairly easy, there is a red structure that is attached to
the side. The start position opens to the yellow-colored plane of tracks, the
green-colored plane is perpendicular to it and the blue-colored plane has two
sections that are perpendicular to the other two while one section is tilted at
approximately a sixty degree angle.
The ridges on
the track are generally very low, so it is hard to keep the ball from dropping
off of it. One very interesting characteristic is that the ball can travel on
both sides of the tracks. This increases the distance that the ball must cover
before you can declare success.
Solving this
puzzle requires the player to engage in some three-dimensional thinking and
planning. You must always be looking ahead and be ready to tilt it when you
reach the end of a track in one of the dimensions. It can keep you occupied for
hours.
