Review of
Inside
Out,
by Donna (Keegan Kearney) Halbur
Four out of five stars
This is a minimalist work of poetry about a set of
twins, their birth and early years. A very large font is used, generally there
are less than eight words to a page. The twins are of opposite genders and when
they are young they are repeatedly told that what they will become is “really
up to you.” The parents handle difficulties with and within the children with kindness
and a bit of a hands-off approach, expecting the children to resolve their
differences.
This is a book
that is not deep, yet contains some significant wisdom. Children need to learn
how to cope with their problems without the crutch of parents and that process should
begin at an early age.
